John Bolton is willing to testify in Trump's impeachment trial and has said he has new information.
Trump said today that he would invoke executive privilege to prevent Bolton from testifying "in order to protect the office".
John Bolton got a $2 million advance to write a book about what he experienced in Trump's White House, and there's no indication that it is subject to a WH review. Bolton is a private citizen and is not subject to claims of executive privilege or an enforceable NDA.
So that leads to (at least) 2 questions:
1. Why is it OK for Bolton to write a book about his experience but not testify to Congress?
2. What defendant in a trial would try to block testimony from ANY witness that might exonerate him?
