You are to be commended for doing that, Rich. I knew there had to be a heart somewhere beneath that crotchety exterior. You do realize that the payouts are socialism, right?
I would have preferred to see them limit the payouts to those who actually needed it - those who have been laid off or had hours cut, who are working paycheck to paycheck - so that the payouts could have been larger. $1200 is not a lot of money - around here, it doesn't even cover a month's rent or a mortgage payment.
I'm in a similar situation to yours and was thinking of doing the same thing. I wasn't expecting that money, and this pandemic isn't affecting me financially, so I'll accept your challenge. My charity is the Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange (GRACE), a local faith-based group that runs a food pantry, a medical clinic, a thrift store, and several other programs to support those in our community who need help. |
