I stand corrected on the CA issue. Thank you for the correct information. In all honesty, the system CA uses is, in a word, weird. Use gov't issued ID, a SS #, or we will just give you a number you can use for ID purposes without even knowing if you are 1) a citizen or 2) are legally eligible to vote. In any case, it appears that I did not have the correct information.
Regarding the poll times, apparently GA counties were allowed to set the times of open/close on early voting days without any standard closing time. So some areas could have closed before 5pm while some stayed open until 7pm. The law requires all counties to stay open until * at least * 5pm but does not prevent them from staying open until 7pm. On election day, the current 7am - 7pm times remain the same. Biden and the Dems have claimed that the new law cuts off the voting at 5pm on election day. This is flat out wrong and has even been brought up to the WH by some reporters. The WH appears to be sticking with the lie.
If I remember correctly, last year the areas of GA that had long lines and long wait times were either mostly, or entirely, in Democratic controlled counties where the Democrats were in control of the voting places. Much like the areas in TX that had issues with long lines or voting machine issues were largely in Democratically controlled areas of TX. |
