I think the main point you're missing here is that the states that are making stricter voter laws are the same states that said there was no problem with the last election. Why are they fixing something that they admit is not broken?
The Republican leadership of GA told the world that there was no fraud or problems in the 2020 election. They rejected Trump's Big Lie that the election was stolen from him. Votes were audited two or three times, and the results were always the same - he lost, and they admitted it. They may not have been happy - and I understand that - but they admitted it. So why make it more difficult to vote in GA in the future? (And no, the new law does NOT make voting in GA as easy as voting in CO - that's another flat-out lie).
It's the same situation in FL and here in TX - no problems with the election, but they decided they need stricter election laws. Why?
Occam's Razor tells us that the most likely reason is the simplest one - too many Democrats came out to vote; the way for Republicans to fix that is to make it more difficult for people to vote. Back in the days of Jim Crow, black voters had to do things like guess the number of beans in a jar before they could vote. This is the modern version of that - it's not about voter integrity, it's about controlling who can vote.
So again - why are they fixing something that's not broken? To make it better? It works - how much better can you make it, and why even try?
If there was no problem with the election - which THEY ADMITTED - then the only logical conclusion is that these laws are intended to reduce the number of voters. Period. That's called voter suppression.
Putting lipstick on a pig doesn't change the fact that it's still a pig. Despite all your arguments, this is clearly voter suppression. |
