My theory is the truckers have no releif. Overworked, they continued to work through COVID as essential workers. The airlines and pilots going through the same thing. I think the truckers have it worse because they have no one to load or unload their trucks perhaps if a shortage of staff to do it at their destinations. They drive and that's it, not paid for loading. Gas prices make it more difficult because the ones who own their rigs have to pay out of pocket. It's a whole trickle-down effect. If they don't make the deadline, they get docked for it. Easier to stay home and relax a while until they get it figured out at warehouse and port level. |
