I heard about this on the radio yesterday. The current mRNA vaccines target the spike proteins of the virus, which is how it invades cells - and is the part that mutates. This new vaccine that's in Phase I clinical trials, I heard focuses on another part of the virus cell that does not mutate, similar to vaccines that have been produced against other diseases in the past. (Don't remember the examples given.)
