According to testimony at the end of today's J6 public hearing, the following members of Congress asked the White House for a pardon in the days following the insurrection:
Scott Perry Mo Brooks Matt Gaetz Paul Gosar Louie Gohmert Marjorie Taylor Greene Andy Biggs
This raises a couple of questions, not the least of which is: How do we know this is true?
Well, the accusations were made under oath by an aide to COS Mark Meadows. None of these people were willing to talk to the J6 committee. If they feel they have been wrongly accused, all they have to do is deny it, under oath. Does the J6 Committee have corroborating evidence? Maybe, maybe not. Are they willing to take a chance?
Of course, they will all vehemently deny it and make claims about an illegal Democratic witch hunt... Will you believe them if they refuse to deny it under oath?
The other question is: if you didn't do anything wrong, why did you think you needed a pardon? Innocent people rarely if ever ask to be pardoned for crimes they didn't commit. This is what prosecutors call "consciousness of guilt" - you did it, you know you did it, and even though you won;t admit to it, now WE know you did it.
As I said, the solution is simple - deny the accusations under oath. Why is that so hard to do if you're innocent? |
