Sorry, but nit is true. They were lured onto the plane with a promise of expedited work permits in Boston, and then flown somewhere else. That's kidnapping. They didn't HAVE to get on the plane, but they wanted work permits. Asylum seekers who have been released y DHS cannot legally work here for 6 months, so of course they would take the bait. If they didn't, people like you would say, "See, they're lazy and don't want to work", so it becomes a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Florida's immigrant relocation law does NOT authorize DeSantis to use $600K of state money to fly migrants from any state other than Florida. He had no legal right to use the money the way he did. He ignored the law and did what he wanted to do. This is how authoritarians always behave - the laws don;t apply to them, they only apply to others. So not only has he kidnapped people, he misappropriated stete funds in order to do it. Also, that Florida law allows him to fly migrants FROM the state, not TO the state - he violated it again when both planes landed in Florida to refuel.
As to that statement in the Miami Herald - what do you expect his communications director to say? "Gov. DeSantis deeply regrets his abuse of the state's relocation program"? Of course she defended his actions, but that doesn't justify them or make them legal.
But tell me again about what a great POTUS he would be. |
