Mike, we all know this. It's money already spent and agreed on, it has to get paid. The point is, which you don't get I guess is that we need to quit passing anything that involves money in the legislature. The Republicans try to all the time, but then we are touted as being uncooperative and not being a bipartisan player with the Democrats. Bills are packed with pork, and when it does get streamlined down, the left won't accept it.
It's time to clean house. Put all the programs out on the table and what they use each year, countries we are supporting, immigrants we are paying for, veterans, seniors, the fine arts, just all of it and start prioritizing from there. It's going to hurt, it's going to be painful, and other countries will be in shock when their billions stop rolling in like clockwork. We need to keep the essential programs going such as the military, and SS, supporting our veterans and cutting the others for a while. Programs like Medicaid need a huge overhaul from abuse and forget about the illegals. You are correct, nothing will get passed. Then instead of finding ways to ask and print more money, sit around and brainstorm how they can cut and make a budget and have programs fit into it. If they can't, it has to wait. The national debt in 2000 was $5.7 Trillion...As of August 31, 2020, the federal debt was $20.83 trillion today we are at $30.92 Trillion. That is shocking! Why do we have debt? We shouldn't, the goal is to eliminate it or drastically reduce it.
