You're right - it's well past time for her to go.When I saw the reports of her being wheeled into the Senate by staff and being confused about why some thought she had been gone for the past 3 months - insisting she was there working all along - it became obvious that she's lost touch with reality.
She had already announced that she isn't going to run for reelection in 2024 - or more accurately, someone on her staff announced it, because she seemed surprised by the idea at the time. CA deserves to have a Senator who knows where he/she is and what he/she is doing, and unfortunately Feinstein no longer fits that bill. The problem now is getting her to agree to step down - I don't think there's any mechanism in the Senate for forcing a Senator out on medical grounds. Assuming they can get her to step down, CA Gov Newsom will appoint another Dem to keep the seat warm until the next election. |
