I've heard a few references to this recently. Apparently some scientists are measuring this for two reasons. For one, it proved that the virus exists in human waste, so it's one more warning about precautions that can be taken to prevent spread (e.g. close the lid before flushing... Wink)

I've also heard it's another way to measure the prevalence of the virus within a community and track changes. Some have seen this as an indicator that the virus was much more widespread than testing was showing. If a significant number of people with the virus don't have symptoms and don't bother getting tested, this could be very useful info.
