thought I was so together this morning....going down to the DMV to get my "REAL I.D."....Had my birth certificate (embossed seal), marriage license, social security card, copies of bank statements from two different banks......existing driver's license.....guess what they didn't accept?
Marriage license. The one I have from the church, signed by the minister, myself, my husband, and two witnesses......is "JUST A SOUVENEIR". I have to get the certified copy from the county. I don't think we even did that back then. I've been married 45 years. As the DMV clerk said, "In the eyes of the DMV, you're not married (and have your married name) unless we see the certified copy from the county." REALLY? Excuse my language, but, are these people bat poop crazy?
Needless to say, I went with just renewing my license for now. Will deal with the REAL I.D. another time...….gggrrrr!  |
