Spectrum TV Choice review: A la carte TV for cord-cutters

$24.99/Mo

I did this, and am extremely happy, after reading Mike's experiences trying different methods. I believe you may have Spectrum in your area. If you think about basic cable, outside of the local and major networks, a lot of what you pay for is junk that requires endless scrolling. I get all the main channels (including local) plus ten that I can select. You can pick and change those ten online. You can also add a premium package (HBO, etc) for $15 which I don't utilize. You can add ESPN sports during season if you're a fanatic. I watch it when it's on major networks.

High speed internet is another $49.99, so all total $75.

We also use Roku and stream Spectrum cable through Roku, or can also stream through a smart TV. I watch a number of Roku channels too. We basically have TOO much TV and could easily drop Netflix. I use Prime for shopping anyway, but never checked out the TV for over a year. Spend most of our time there now. Prime music too.

Netflix and Prime combined, another $25 if you wish.

I can light an entire house full of devices and TVs with the high-speed internet and a good solid Router 'system'! You will still need the cable modem, but there's no charge. Also, no cable boxes to rent.

Here's the one solid investment that a lot of people won't make (psychological) and I see them suffering when utilizing Zoom. It's using a sub-standard router. Let me walk you through it:

If you were to pay $100/mo for internet and basic cable, vs the plan above for $75/month, that's an additional $300/yr. Multiply that year after year. Waste!

Instead, purchase a good quality router SYSTEM, such as eero mesh. There are probably better ones now, eero was the best when I purchased it. Basically, about $300, one time purchase. You can add to it. They utilize a phone app and update the system via the app. It will pay for itself in the first year if you were paying for basic cable. Instead, you get high speed internet that will run everything you have plus everything down the block!
