When you think of table tennis you think of powerhouse China. The number 1 team had won 29 of the last 33 gold medals. Going against a team from Japan who had never won a gold medal in this sport, mainly because China was taking the gold tournament after tournament.
In this match the favorites, China, took a 2-0 match lead in a best of 7.
The Japan team won the next three games before China rebounded to win game 6.
Now came the thriller. Japan staked themselves to an 8-0 lead before China came back. Then it was back and forth until the Chinese player hit a return into the net and Japan won it's first gold medal in table tennis.
It was amazing to watch, seeing how these champs hold their paddles, something I could not do efficiently. M E M O R I E S !!! |
