At least 1,000 houses or other structures burned in an area of over 6,000 acres. 7 injuries but numbers will grow. 3 missing, but tomorrow will begin search and recovery looking for them, and more than likely additional bodies. They originally believed it was downed power lines from the 100-115 mph winds, but they have ruled out power lines and have a search warrant for possible arson. We have gotten about a foot of snow which has helped in putting out the embers, but slowing searches. Additionally, single digit and below zero temps. My heart aches for everyone who have lost everything. We were very fortunate that the wind direction changed. We haven’t been on the roof to see if we have roof damage from the wind. The only obvious thing we have found so far is the weather station wind whirly thing on the roof is gone. That revolutions with 115 mph winds, had to be a blur. Documentation says it can withstand 100 mph winds. I’m sure the thing is embedded in something many miles away. I’m sure other things are missing from the yard, but haven’t taken inventory with the much-needed snow. Thanks for everyone’s concern. |
