Yeah, that bit about having us "take these fees while... out there working for other companies" is another way of saying that they don't want to pay a full fee for the work contracted for. Instead, they want to piggyback on work someone else is paying for. In a sense, that could be considered theft of services! As you and I well know, even if a notary makes plans to coordinate an assignment that way, it doesn't always work out as planned.
I took a peek (in my deleted items folder) at the one I got. It's from an Arizona company, and was even worse:
"The fee for this type of inspection is a flat rate of $25.00 for exterior and $45.00 for interior photos.??The requirement to complete the site inspection is a questionnaire form and the following pictures.
Exterior: Front View, Entrance View, Address, Hours of Operations, and Signage. Interior: Office area, warehouse, business equipment, etc… "
Seems to me that the $25 wouldn't even cover the time to take 5 photos, complete a form and email it all back to them, let alone a travel fee.
