Step 3: Order any supplies you may need from Notary Rotary, Inc.
The State of Virginia does not require the use of an official Virginia notary stamp when performing notarial acts. It is generally considered a good idea to use one both for the sake of convenience, as one stamp is easier than writing out the required information, and because some states require the use of the notary seal and documents destined for those states may be rejected if a seal is not used. There is also no requirement regarding use of a journal or notarial record book, but we always advise notaries to acquire one. A journal or record book is a good way to provide proof if one of your official acts is ever called into question. The Modern Journal of Notarial Events by Notary Rotary, Inc. makes an excellent Virginia notary journal, and was designed specifically for notaries public.
