Cold season
Posted by JimAZ at 12/10/2013 2:24:00 PM
Woke up with the worst head cold and chest congestion this morning. Felt it coming on last 24 hours, but kept saying no. Got on the phone at 6AM to let my clients know they needed to reassign my orders for the rest of the week. My question is: How do my fellow NSA's handle getting sick.

California NNA and SPW cancer
Posted by JimAZ at 11/11/2013 4:57:00 PM
Talked to one of my Florida SS's today and was told my Lexis_Nexis (expires 1-2-2014) was no longer valid because it was over a year old. I thought, here we go again so I responded " OK, I will get a Notary Rotary back ground check" Their response was "Great, send it to us but we will continue to do business pending receipt". How business should be.

It appears to me the California cancer (NNA and SPW) is not spreading like they think or would like. Please all, don't over-react. Every dollar you send to NNA is a dollar in their Lobbyist pockets, not yours.

XYZ logo gone
Posted by JimAZ at 11/4/2013 9:23:00 PM
Four years ago when I started as a NSA I added the NNA logo to my profile. I woke up in the middle of last night realizing it was still there. For that I apologize to all NOTROT members and it has been deleted.

Notary on Call
Posted by JimAZ at 10/22/2013 4:43:00 PM
I have never done business with this company, but received the NNA required BGC email today. Here is my response.

"Attached is my background check from Lexis-Nexis. If this is not adequate please tell me why so I can send your response to Lexis-Nexis law department for review and action."

BofA branch signings
Posted by JimAZ at 9/11/2013 9:32:00 PM
Arrived at a BofA for a branch signing. As normal, I explained I was there to do one of their customer's loan signing. I was told by a BofA employee that I couldn't perform the signing because I wasn't a BofA employee. I have loan docs in my briefcase. I said OK, explain that to your customer when he arrives. Borrower arrives and BofA employee explains new BofA policy. Borrower says OK, I'll just go over to the counter and close my accounts. BofA employee says "Ok, you can do the signing, but just this once" Completed the signing.

My question. If BofA is laying off people how did they miss this NITWIT?

Competition
Posted by JimAZ at 9/5/2013 7:04:00 PM
I just found out who my competition is in this area. PostNet in Sahuarita. Scumbag owner has been building a customer list from my packages. Then market low balls me because he can write off all printing to his so called business. He pays college kids to do the signings for $25 and pockets the rest. Title Source, LSI, Service Link and anyone else, you are getting $25 point and sign from this Sahuarita crook. How do I know. Kid at the counter told me so today. My future packages will go out elsewhere.

Title Source Quiz Webpage
Posted by JimAZ at 8/31/2013 3:09:00 PM
Anyone else having trouble accessing the Title Source quiz webpage? I can access the tutorial, and then continue with "take test" and when I get to the first question the page freezes. I have enabled cookies, java script, and verified I have the latest flash drive per their instructions. I have emailed and called the numbers on the instruction page over the past week with no response.

Anyone else and TIA.

LSI
Posted by JimAZ at 8/7/2013 6:52:00 PM
After four years of being an NSA I think I have become hardened. I fired LSI today and will refuse to do business with them again. Why? Because of late docs, no docs, cancellations, and poor communication. This started happening to me over 75% of the time. When I accepted an assignment from LSI I reserved the appointment time for them and turned down good offers from four and five star companies. Then LSI wouldn’t come through and I was left sitting at home. Before you say it isn’t their fault I know better. I’ve talked to several major bank LO’s who use LSI and they tell me the docs go to the title company 1 to 2 days before the signing. In my opinion LSI has cut back on people so intensely they can’t process the docs in a timely manner. If this isn’t true, why can the other national title companies (same banks) get docs to us at least the day before the signing? Remember, LSI sent their scheduling to India several years ago, so we can hardly understand what the assignment is. I also don’t appreciate LSI’s philosophy that the notary is disposable. They are pompous. Servicelink, please take them over and fire the whole bunch of incompetents. OK, pros and cons, that was my vent.

Notary Rotary outbound fax
Posted by JimAZ at 7/11/2013 10:04:00 PM
While I don't like and normally don't accept fax-backs, sometimes they are necessary and I try to accommodate. I am currently reviewing my telephone expenses and some fax-backs are not toll free. Does the Notary Rotary outbound fax accept the potential volume of a fax-back or is it just for limited outbound fax's? Anyone using it for fax-backs? Before I get a deluge of "don't accept fax-backs" you need to understand there is a revenue stream of investment properties, second homes, and purchases out there. When your re-fi's dry up you might want to buy a fax machine. Positive responses will be appreciated. TIA

Brother HL 5470DW
Posted by JimAZ at 7/7/2013 8:56:00 PM
Just bought a Brother HL 5470DW (40 ppm) Wow and Yipee Ka Ya. Bought it because my 5340 died. Only problem I am having is when I wake my 5470 up each day it trips the circuit breaker. After that it prints all day at 40ppm with no problem. Minor annoyance, but is anyone else having this problem before I call an electrician? TIA
