I was at this place last month and it was very disorganized. I was there at the request of two county Social workers who were also uncomfortable in my opinion but heck, they were the social works so what do I know.

The thing that stood out was the Principle kept telling me "this isn't my room". The "agent" I was there for was moving him because she didn't like the place either. This is terrible!

Harry is correct regarding misinformation about BGC
Posted by Notarysigner at 10/22/2013 1:17:00 PM
If you believe the only BGC that's acceptable is the XYZ please read a part of this email from a Nationwide Vendor ( 90% of you work for them) when asked to explain.

".........As an FYI on background checks it will need to include clear checks of the National Sex Offenders Registry, OFAC (Terrorist Watch List), SSN Trace, County and Federal Criminal History. You can also obtain this from the NNA, Notary Rotary or CrimCheck. " Additionally, this vendor also requests BGC for SS also!

In other words, this is what they want, not necessarily who provides it.

Everyone needs to challenge EVERY email request as to why what they say must be done. Just "because" should NOT be acceptable to anyone! IMO

We still can't find out who is responsible for insisting that it only can be done thru the XYZ BUT....we're are working on it!

Not saying, naming, titling just sharing my first contact..
Posted by Notarysigner at 10/20/2013 4:41:00 PM
THIS is an email I received from someone I've only worked for once in the last twelve months.

" We are reaching out to you because you are one of our notaries we have worked with previously. A few major title companies are now requiring all notaries they work directly with and all notaries we contract with for their signings to have a Background Check from the National Notary Association. (MUST be by the National Notary Association ONLY)

Fidelity National Title and its sister companies are requiring all notaries contracted through us to have a current NNA background check certificate

IF WE DON’T GET THIS FROM YOU IN A TIMELY MANNER, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CALL YOU FOR SIGNINGS WITH THOSE MAJOR TITLE COMPANIES.

Please forward a current NNA(National Notary Association) background check certificate immediately. If you do not have this certificate, please contact the NNA immediately to obtain one.

This is effective immediately. Please scan to jessie@bbserv.com or fax to 877-207-0943. SCANNING & EMAILING IS PREFERABLE!!!!

We appreciate you expediting this process as this is effective immediately. We do not want this requirement to affect any signings we can give you. We are truly sorry for this requirement, although it is coming from the big title companies.

You will also have to provide us with E & O Insurance, Notary Bond, W-9 and copy of your commission.

If we do not receive the above items we will not be able to use you on Title company closings.

Thank you

Feel good story about signing request
Posted by Notarysigner at 10/18/2013 9:19:00 AM
I received an assignment for a refi yesterday that was cancelled by the borrower, I guess he didn’t like my questioning him.

When I get an assignment I always Google the borrower’s address so I can see where I’m going. My family also knows they can go to my computer to see places I’ve been looking at that day. Anyway, it was a gated community so I knew parking would be difficult ( no parking on the “property side” of the street). I also know they usually have guest parking inside.

So I called the borrower to confirm and ask about the guest parking. He told me THAT was for guest and to park outside, go register at the Guard and walk to his house (about ¾ of a mile from gate). Then he said, “you got a problem or something?”. I told him, “not anymore!”

Hiring party called me about 15 mins later and told me they had another notary…..I FEEL good. Go Dodgers!

I saw this on another forum and just had to post this "copy". The person who posted this is also a member here....I don't know why they didn't put it here but I felt it should be. I felt EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THID CRAP!

" This is the E-Mail I received from a Signing Service I work with Wed, Oct 9, 2013 Due to revised mandates from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and major national lenders, background checks considered valid for 2 years are only valid for 1 year.

You likely work for these national lenders through us and other signing services, so we want to help you with the cost associated with this change. You will need to comply with these changes to continue working with these lenders. Good news. The XYZ and Crimcheck have free and discounted options.

Complete one of the following options and reply with your updated background check by November 1, 2013: Option One (the FREE option): The XYZ will update your existing XYZ 2-year background check for free to a 1-year background check. If you have a 2-year background check from the XYZ, contact them to request a 1-year background check. Free. Simple. Option Two (the discount option): The XYZ will give you a discount if you had a background check completed by another vendor (LexisNexis, Crimcheck, etc.). They will subtract the cost of that background check from their $65 background check. Contact the XYZ and have proof of the other vendor’s cost available. Option Three (the paid option): Buy a 1-year background check from the XYZ for $65 or buy one from Crimcheck for $35. If you’d like to order a background check from Crimcheck that fulfills the requirements of all national lenders, please go to https://clients.crimcheck.com/applink/SIGNATUREEXTERNAL/ Whichever method you choose, we must receive an updated background check from you by November 1, 2013. You may email it to XXXXXXX@signatureclosers.com (preferred), or you may fax it to (888) 677-6866.

Thank you for your partnership and please know we will continue to look for ways to ease the burdens of compliance and regulation for you, our partners. "

Interested in response from people signed up with Skysail
Posted by Notarysigner at 9/26/2013 2:53:00 PM
So a lot of notaries are slow or not getting very many loan signings these past few month. I've seen a couple of members of skysail boast of being covered by Skysail $1,000,000.00 E.O. Insurance and therefore didn't purchase any.

My question to you and hoping for an honest answer is, "Are you doing any kind of notary work at all"?

If you fear being attacked, please don't post but at least think about it. You can also p/m me. tnx

work at $85. I know they wouldn't do it here because the burn would be ferocious but it's still sad.

I think I'm going to join a couple of other posters here and hang up my SS loan signing gloves. Instead I'll just concentrate on my GNW and make that work for me.

I wouldn't be surprised if $85 is the new $100 in the next six months.

Why county clerks/recorder have final say when recording Docs.

This is taken from my county's website, Alameda.

" The County Recorder is the guardian of real property records for Alameda County property owners and citizens. California law governs which documents may be filed or recorded with the County Recorder. Once accepted, documents are indexed for retrieval and preserved for access by the public. Copies are made available upon payment of a copy fee. "

The key words here is " Once accepted "! For those who don't have a college education it means DO WHAT I TELL YOU OR IT WON'T BE ACCEPTED. The State does NOT record Docs.

Whether it makes sense or not, it is their rule.

Gerald, I talked to them yesterday about this because it's where I live and most of the signing I do are for this county. I will do what they say so my signing(s) will record.

doing what you feel is right
Posted by Notarysigner at 9/11/2013 3:43:00 PM
Yesterday I notarized a Will as instructed by an attorney. While doing so, I noticed the “attester” kept tugging at his pants. He informed me they don’t have air-conditioning and it was hot. He added, the pants fit in the past but because he had lost twenty pounds, they wouldn't stay up. He had pinned them but because of his shaken hand, kept “sticking” himself when trying to adjust the size. He was also wheelchair bound.

So it bothers me all night long. This morning I went into my closet and got a pair of jogging pants and a pair of shorts, too small for me (ever) and took them there. Why? Because there was nobody who cared, no signings/work and everybody else complaining!

I have a question(s) about signing services
Posted by Notarysigner at 9/7/2013 12:39:00 PM
1. Are the owners and employees required to have BGC?
2 Are they bonded?
3. Are they required to have an "agent" for serving subpoena?
4. Are they regulated at all?

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge about this because I don't know the answers to these questions.

Texasmobilenotaryservices Jimmy Jones.... Lies
Posted by Notarysigner at 8/2/2013 5:09:00 PM
On June 22nd I did a signing for two borrowers, investment property located in Texas. I quoted a fee of $175 because there was no rescission period and Docs had to be perfect so they could fund....that day. My fee was based on the fact that I would have to fax back the "criticals" which I rarely do. Turned out the criticals amounted to 63 pages of fax backs, so I informed them I wanted an addition $25.00 for doing so.

I rarely work for SS anymore so I usually asked, are you a SS or TC? The answer I got was TC. From my experience you can usually trust a TC to be honest and pay right after the loan closes. I should have taken note of his comment after I told him I needed an additional $25 for the large number of "criticals" because he smartly said, "I don't like your attitude" (a TC would never say anything like that)!
I told him I would dismiss his comment as a "power surge" and to just pay me, and never hire me again. No problem.

Anyway, after two emails and two phone calls and no response to my phone calls, I called the TC and asked to speak with someone in accounting. I spoke with someone who told me THAT signing had been invoiced and paid to a third party notary. I asked who it was and it was the person that called me. The TC added, No, they did NOT work for them. I sent a copy of my confirmation and it showed the notary as an employee of the TC WHICH WAS NOT TRUE.

Received my check today for $150.00.....shorted me $25.00 because of my "Bad attitude."

Well Mr Jimmy Jones...now I'm really pissed......My next post will be to everyone in your Texas TC Trade association so they will know what an ass you are.

And after that, you will see this post ON THE NEXT FULL MOON!

They (TC) said "it can't be done"...not true.

I did a signing for a BWR last month who was very please with my services. Told me he had three more pieces of property being refinanced and would have me come out again.

When time comes to schedule signing, they asked for me by name.....TC said no they can't do that. He told them if he couldn't have me (because of bad experience with previous notaries) to cancel the loan.

I got called!

W.W.Y.D. about the request for P.O.A.?
Posted by Notarysigner at 7/8/2013 8:53:00 PM
This is a real live drama….that could be elder abuse….I say, well W.W.Y.D?

Received call from a woman, she says she is the daughter and her mother needs my services. She begins by telling me I have to come at 4p.m. because there are “other” things they need to get done by 8 p.m.

Her mother wants to commit the Dad to a nursing home and she has P.O.A.

I am suppose to meet them at another nursing home where the mother is.

After I notarize the Docs allowing her to have her husband admitted to a nursing home, she wants to revoke the P.O.A. she gave to her husband (they gave each other P.O.A.).

She wants to give P.O.A. instead to a 2nd Daughter (who will be present) afterwards.

The second daughter needs the P.O.A. so she can add her name as settlor to the family trust.

The first daughter tells me they need to have this completed by 8 P.M. because they are moving the mother to another nursing home.

So I began asking questions.

“Is mom or dad on medication?" Answer No!" Do they have valid I.D?”, answer is yes.

I asked,..”does the Dad know the P.O.A. is being revoked?” Answer no.

I asked,.. “ does the mom know she is re-assigning the P.O.A to 2nd Daughter?” Answer Yes.

I asked,.. “does she know why all this has to be done by 8 p.m.?” Answer , “me and my sister will explain it to her after we get all this paperwork done (their attorney drew up the Docs).”

My answer was no.

She asked me why I wouldn't do it and I told her I don’t have to answer that question.

So, W.W.Y.D?
