Posted by Exclusive Mobile Notary at 10/3/2013 11:28:00 PM | I was browsing the Facebook posts from new notaries on the NNA page. I replied to quite a few of the new NSA questions mentioning that they don't accept any jobs for less than $100 as it's hurting them and the profession as a whole.
Late this afternoon I received an email from a director at the NNA stating... "First off, I wanted to thank you for being an NNA member and active in our social and discussion communities. You bring a lot to the table in knowledge that others can learn from. We're glad you are active.
The reason I'm writing is that you have posted several comments on community posts prescribing a $100 fee minimum for signings. The NNA is in favor of higher fees for signing agents, however, for legal and other reasons we cannot host discussions or posts that urge others to charge a specific fee for signings. I'm afraid we are going to have to remove the posts you have made with that pitch.
All of your other posts will remain. I hope you understand, and that you continue to provide valuable context for our social community of almost 60,000 notaries."
Funny... I haven't been a member of them in over 3 years. |

Posted by Exclusive Mobile Notary at 9/17/2013 11:34:00 PM | Got a call from some guy who said he completed his training from the NNA and just received his commission and wanted to know what being a notary is all about. He wanted to know if I had a moment to answer some questions.
His first question was "what does a Notary do?" I told him to refer to his training.
Second question, "Do you do this full time?" Yes. To which he replied, "Are you able to make a living doing it?" Yes, I make quite a good living doing it.
The questions only became more dumbfounding as the 3 minute call progressed. Finally I informed him that the loan signing market has dried up due to increasing interest rates and lenders not lending money. So I told him it may not be a good venture for him.

They sent me a "Quality Issue" stating I didn't include the funds due with the return pack. Well that was a fraudulent lie on their part. The check was included.
So I decided to call the customer and tell them that the title company contacted me saying I didn't include the funds in the return pack and they are penalizing me for this. The customer (who remembered me well, because no one at Bank of America was competent enough to help them through their loan process and I was the only one who could answer questions on their docs, numbers, payment, etc) contacted the back who he obtained the cashiers check from and requested a trace on it. He showed it was cashed by LandSafe, obtained a copy of the cancelled check and provided it to me via fax.
I then emailed the "wonderful" folks at FASS and informed them to stop sending me these false "issues" and provided them with the steps that I took to prove they were incorrect. I then told them they needed to pay me a full trip charge since I had to do THEIR job. They initially declined, to which I replied "OK, I'll just contact the customer and have them pay my fee. (I wasn't going to do that because all I did was make a phone call to the customer) FASS then replied saying the "one-time fee has been approved by management"
So thankful I don't have to accept their $100 jobs anymore and deal with their off-shore call center reps with fake names such as "Apple" or "Jelly". Yes, those are the names they are letting their reps use. Now I can focus on my local First-Am offices
My little b!tchfest session for the night is over and I shall now watch the finale of Master Chef on my DVR
