For the first time......
Posted by Buddy Young at 11/25/2013 11:02:00 PM
I visited the SPW website and for most of the professional notaries who post here, it is a joke.
It's obvious that this was founded because of all the newbees out there who screw up signings.
Why do professional notaries who have done 100s and 100s if not 1000s of signings have to go through useless training of materials that they already know inside and out?

I know what I'm doing and my regulars know that. If they require that training I might just take down my shingle.

I did notice in their website they did provided us with the definition of a signer. lol

Back at work
Posted by Buddy Young at 9/25/2013 1:40:00 PM
I did my first signing yesterday since my surgery. It was exactly one month since my last, even though I don't need the money it felt good to get back to work.

On a side note: I recived 4 emails for the same job yesterday, the first three offered $75 for a refi 4 miles from me. I just deleted the three emails. Then I got a forth email for the same job that offered $100. I said I was available and was assigned the job. I guess they couldn't get anyone to do it for $75. Sometimes it pays to stick to your guns.

I looked them up in signing central ( signing trac ) 2 1/2 stars. I read the comments and all the negative ones were for low pay offers and all the positive ones were " they pay twice a month and are easy to work with". After reading the comments, I took the job. It's just as important to weigh the comments as it is to look at the star rating.

I think it's unfair to rate a company just because they didn't offer your going price. I only rate compaies that I work for.

These companies try to get the job done as cheaply as possible and I don't blame them. They are in business to make money, But they are going to have to offer a decent price to get me to work for them. I'm glad they couldn't get anyone for $75

The dirtiest house
Posted by Buddy Young at 9/9/2013 3:57:00 PM
Sometimes we share stories about peoples filthy homes and wonder, how could they ever live like that. Sometimes there is a a reason.

I entered the dirtiest house ever on friday and it looked like the owner had cats. There was cat hair everywhere ( clumps of it ) on the couch, on the love seat, on the carpet. There were a coulple of places where a cat had thrown up and someone had cleaned it up but the carpet needed shampoo. Dust thick on the kitchen table and on the coffee table. This house needed a good thourough cleaning. Here's the owner lounging about with a catheter strapped to his leg,and in his underware.

Monday was cleaning day but I was sick and had to see the doctor. I had a regular appointment that day for my yearly. When I saw the doctor I explained what was wrong and he said" I guess the yearly is put on the back burner " He examined me and ordered blood tests and xrays, sent me home and an hour later called me and said they were waiting for me at the hospital, That was three weeks ago. I was met my a surgeon and she explained that my appendix had burst and I had a tear down there. Within an hour they did surgury on me and I had a belly full of puss and was in ICU for over a week. The doctor told me that I was lucky "people come in here with what you had and don't make it "

I can't do it as I am too week so I guess I need to get the phone book out and find some one to clean my house.. Yes the dirtiest house is mine.

This probably belongs in leasure, if it does sue me.

Had three jobs last week.

I haven't had a check in the mail in over a week. Yes newbees, it's slow.

In a previous post Cheryl talked about panhandeling. I heard a story once ( don't know if it's true or not ) Eddie Murphy doing a film, dressed as a bum, decided to go out after filming and beg for money to see how much he could get. Made $1500. Again don't know if that is true or not.

I did a signing on Friday at 3:00 PM and dropped the package at 4. The last pickup time for our small community is 3 PM and we do not have weekend pickups here.

I get a call Monday from signing service wanting to know where the package is. I explain the pickup times to her and tell her that the package hasn't even been picked up. She asked me if I dropped at a maned location? I did. She asked me if I could go get it and fax some pages in. I told her I could but it was not in the instuctions and it would cost her another $25 since it was only 4 miles from my home.

You could have heard a pin drop.

Insurance

With people out there wanting to sue at the drop of a hat, I've been checking on business liability insurance. A friend of mine ,who is also a notary ,sells insurance. He quoted me a price of over $700 a year for a mil. Seems a little pricy for me. For those who have this insurance: how much does it cost? Who is your carrier. Signing agent insurance doesn't seem to be available in California.

Although I've always had enough money to buy what I want, I'm in one of those "I don't want to spend any money moods" I guess i'm saving it up for my kids so they can blow it real fast, or maybe I could be a sugar daddy for some nice lady out there. So if any of you girls out there ever decide to dump Hugh for a younger man, let me know.

incorrect vesting
Posted by Buddy Young at 6/30/2013 7:37:00 PM
I hardly ever do signings on a Sunday but I had one today. I printed the docs yesterday ( Saturday ) and in the docs was a grant deed and a dot executed in 2006. I don't know why in the world they included those docs in the package but they did.

In checking the docs for correct printing ( sometimes my printer prints in Russian half way through ) I noticed that the vesting in the grant deed of 2006 had John Public and Jane Q. Public. The docs and the new DOT had the vesting as John Q. Public and Jane Public. They had his middle initial instead of hers. I called Ss and told him what I found and he said he would call title as they were working on Saturday and let them know and call me back. I told him that if he didn't call me back that I would go ahead and do the signing. He never called back so I did the signing.

I don't think anyone would have found this but I'll bet someone typed it wrong. It would seem to me that this would have to be fixed, if so they can pay me again.
