Great Lakes Notary

I just got the stranges telephone call from Great Lakes. I have done a few signings for them and thought "good another signing." WRONG they wanted me to pay $49 for the right to work with them.

Did anyone else get a telephone call like this?

I got the same call about 3 weeks ago, wanting me to market myself with them for 49.00 a year. Told them no. I have not heard anything from them I guess this means no more work from them.

Give me a break, is that what it's coming down to now? Forget the $40.00 signings, we want you to have the privilage of working for us, and oh, by the way, we will charge you $49.00 to do so? Wow!

They realized that we are so desperate for asigments that since they have 10,000 notaries in their database, so imagine 10,000x49.00 dollars. Do not, but DO NOT ACCEPT THAT!! This is going crazy!

I have done work for them and have yet to receive that phone call. I know that until recently, I have been paid on time. However, I am still waiting on a payment from Jan. 4. I agree with others, no signing company should charge you for them to send you business. The only thing I would pay for is directories where my information is listed for the companies to contact me directly. I do work for signing companies but don't get charged an extra fee just for their referral. That is crazy!! I would have to laugh if I got that phone call!!

Could this be a company that is encountering a cash flow problem and is using this technique
to raise funds to meet their current obligations? Could work, but will probably develop a lot
of negative PR.

Is that even legal?

Sure; it's legal if people are stupid enough to pay.

By the way, National Notary Association (signingagent.com) also charges for their network.

I've been looking at all of these networks and all of them either charge you a sign up fee or charge you to become certified with them. The sites that offer free sign up give you bare-bottom opportunity, such as, becoming a notary for them i/e Notary Rotary.

When I said Notary Rotary I meant to say 123 notary.
