NC Closings
Hello, I have moved to NC about 6 months ago. Although I am signed up with several signing services, many of them don't seem to have closings out here. I have signed up with others since I have been here but it has not made much of a difference. Do most people here prefer to refinance with their local banks or do I need to keep searching for other SS? Any suggestions? TIA

sign up with everone you can think of, including but certainly not limited to title companies, attorneys in the area, etc. and check out the signing services tab at the top of this page. contact all of them. Certainly, you should get some work.

I live 15 minutes to the NC border and when I bought and sold land down there (investment stuff) I am an examiner and notary so I asked alot of questions to become more familiar with NC as opposed to Va. NC is an attorney state. Though I have been searching for 14 years, I can't do a search there without an attorney to sign the notes. And closings are only done by attorneys. Unless you find SS that have an attorney on staff to oversee everything.

You are incorrect about the closings. NC is NOT an attorney state and has NOT been one in the last 3 years. IF it were I would not be able to be a certified signing agent,'
There are many companies out there that still believe we are an attorney state and do not want to take any chances, this makes the job of marketing my services tougher. South Carolina on hte other hand is an attorney state, this may be part of the confusion.

where in nc are you located?
I signed up with many companies and each lender has their preferences as to whether or not to use signing agents. I started doing this full time a year ago and I am just starting to get some steady business,
I would sign with as many companies as you can.

I am in Mooresville. I did have steady business with many SS before I moved. A lot of those SS tell me they don't do much in NC. Did you run into this as well?

I live in the Outer Banks and have been doing signings for about 3 years now. In fact, I worked at a local bank when we got a call from JMT to see if we had a notary who would be willing to do a signing...I said OK, and did them every once in a while. Then, when I quit the bank to stay at home with the kids, I started getting lots of calls from different companies (I guess once you are in a database for this area, they find you-there aren't too many of us here, I think) Now I average about 2 or 3 a week (fine for me-I have 2 young children) Where are you in NC? A really great company to check into is Signing Carolina. Hope this helps...

I am in Mooresville and am signing up with Signing Carolina. Is 2-3 per week the average for most in NC? This is a lot less than I am used to.
Thanks

Thanks Joe
I was wrong. Thanks for the info. I suppose that when it comes to title searches, that is where the attorneys have the control. I mainly do title searches, have for 14 years. Only been a closer for 4. Thanks.
