Personal Web Pages....

How effective do you think they are?
Which services would you recommend? getting a domain, or using a free account?

Read my message entilted "HEY LOOK WHAT I CAN DO!!"

I just created my free webpage using www.notary4hire.com and it came out really good....... So my business partners are saying.

Check it out. Don't type www after http:// , it doesn't work if www is typed for some reason.

I got that much Smiley
Your post, prompted my question.....
Except I'd write my webpage from scratch.... I just wondered if It was worth the time I'd put into it (perfectionist about those sorts of things)....

I am going to recommend this site to my realtor friend when he's ready to have a real website done and not just the little FrontPage site that I set up for him.

The above link will develop, register your domain, host your site and work with you for a reasonable price.

Well it looks like a fairly good deal, if you needed a site designed....
I'm lucky enough to have a background in web design/programming...but hated the field.

I just probably need the hosting...domain name registration is very cheap.

I use 1and1 for my hosting. They have a plan for 4.99 a month and it includes one free domain name for as long as you use them.

It would be nice to hear other folks' take on this.

I would also like to solicit some feedback from the group, if anyone is wiiling, on my own page: www.kevinmcnulty.com. It's a from-scratch number I did on my own, and I wonder if it's presenting the right image/information for me. Anyone willing to give me some feedback can feel free to use the contact link on the site to mail me off-list if they like. Thanks!

Kevin I LIKE your page. Lots of information in a clear, concise format that doesn't have me wigging out trying to find something. I like a clean format, but have yet figured out how to put more info on it and keep it clean like you did. It also loads quicky. Judging from your content, it looks like your a busy boy. I have to imagine property preservation has kept you busy this year in the blue tarp state. Sister lives in Lake Wales and just got her roof last month!

Thanks for the feedback. The site's nothing fancy, but was hoping folks would find it easy to use.

I HOPE I'll be a busy boy...actually just open the doors last month. Smiley

Did my own site and well worth it!

Shane,
I did my own site with Front Page and it's more than worth it to have a site. I'd say 85-95% of my business is from my website. Of course the key is to market yourself all over the internet (which I did). You just can't put up a site and expect overnight success. I'm sure you know this having been in the field. I just paid for the hosting and domain name through Bravenet. If you're interest in Bravenet you can link to it from my Notary Links page on my website. I have it as an affiliate site.
Good luck to you. Let us know what your site is when you have it up.
Barb
