I would like some information on whether or not I need to apply for a business license to become a signing agent?

The easiest way to find out is to contact the License/permits department for the city in which you live. They will let you know if it is required.

Yes

Some cities/counties go on witchhunts looking for small business owners who haven't purchased a local business license.

A friend of mine suffered stiff penalties this way. He didn't even know he needed a license.

The other gal who told you to check with your local city and county business license office is correct. They will tell you if you need one!

Check the laws of your state, county, city, etc. Frankly, I would pose this question to an attorney.
