Websites
I don't know if it's allowed to be posted here, but I am a website designer and if anyone is interested in having a website, please feel free to contact me. My contact information is on my website: www.vbs.bz/notary.htm

Re: Websites FYI
I. Advertising
Do not advertise your own products or services without prior approval. Most advertisements are not relevant to most users and are therefore wasted space.

What am I missing? Why is it O.K for Brooke/ca, but not for
DHartly to advertise their website and the person who built it for them? Brooke/ca says she highly recommends Scott @ NotaryWebsites.com and yet No one yells at her for advertising?!?!
It is for this very reason that I only post on NotaryRotary every few months or so. This place is full or folks who are quick to jump on others and become a mini "Harry", unless of course it suits their needs otherwise. Yes the rules state "Do not personally attack, insult or degrade other users or companies" and I have not personally attacked anyone, I am just stating MHO.... of course if the shoe fits.....

Re: What am I missing? Why is it O.K for Brooke/ca, but not for
The difference, first and foremost, is Brooke came here looking for feedback on how her website looked. Many people responded. Some asked if she did it herself. She said "No." She stated who helped her build it. She did not suggest anyone call him if they need a website built. On the other hand, someone posted that he didn't know if he should post the message but did so without any regard for the rules as outlined by John. This is what is called a solicitation of business. Brooke did not solicit business from anyone. I, too, have not personally attacked anyone, I am just stating the facts as I see them IMO.

Interesting, since Brookes first 6 words are
"Many thanks to Scott at NotaryWebsites.com" and then later she recomends him... and several threads down other folks recomend Scott. I guess there is a difference; somehow. But it really does not matter. I just find it funny how people react on this forum. If you make a post asking a question (even after research) you'll get more hurtful then helpful comments. If you make a post about soliciting money to help a sick animal or person, no one states the "rules" about soliciting. If you make a post about your own website (even if it advertises the same things Harry has), everyone says "wonderful site, good job"....Heck I even asked a question one day "Why do the business of signing work, if there is so much hassle with it? ... you should have seen the swarm that question drew up. Bottom line: I find it very interesting to read this forum and often have questions about how & why people respond to the posts. Thanks for responding and please have a wonderful day. (no sarcasm here, I really do want you to have a wonderful day).

Re: What am I missing? Why is it O.K for Brooke/ca, but not for
Jaxnotary,
Have you ever been on a chat group or a alt.newsgroup where every other post was an advertisement? Let that start happening and the readership goes away.
IMHO that is why Harry has rules against it *unless* you go to him and simply ask for his permission to post your product such as I did for my rev mort book, and such as PAW did for his car signs. Both are relevant to notary work, both add content value to the site, both ads were approved *before* posting here.
If this rule were not included you'd have everything from ***Cheap Viagra!!!*** to MaryKay, Avon, Amway or get rich quick schemes posted here daily. Not to mention that but also competing sites, as well.
Recommendations are different than advertising one's own site. Competing sites should *not* be referred, however (in my understanding). I don't know if that answered your question or not.
Call NR/Harry or write them to get the mini-Harrys (such as myself) out of the loop for once and for all. In the meantime, look up message Message #129805.

Jax, this is the kind of post that starts trouble
Just when it settles down a little, someone has to stoke the fires again. The poster said "I don't know if I can post this," and all John did was copy directly from the guidelines to show him. No comment, no insult, no yelling, no judging, no editorial, no attack, no rudeness, just a word for word copy. And then you come up with this kind of jab. So while you're telling us that this is the reason you only post every few months, you might want to take a look in the mirror (in my humble opinion, of course).
Really, it's becoming quite comical that the ones flinging around the accusations are contibuting as much as anyone to the recent chaos.
And most people can figure out the difference between someone soliciting their own product, and someone complimenting the work that someone else did for them. Most people, but apparently not all. Funny thing is, if this poster asks for permission, they might actually get it.

Re: What am I missing? Why is it O.K for Brooke/ca, but not for
Jax dud there is a difference between a recommendation and an Ad.
Personal Recommendations from other satisfied Notaries are what we want on this Board. Could be a Signing Service, a Printer Model, a Loan presentation technique and even a Website builder.

Re: What am I missing? Why is it O.K for Brooke/ca, but not for
Ok, I'm new to this forum and apologize. When I saw so many people reply to Brooke's website that they themselves didn't have a website and didn't know a thing about creating one, my intent was to help them out by offering to create one for them if they were interested. I truly believe that a website is a great marketing tool for a Notary business. I am not offended, rules are rules. Enough said.

Re: Re:Hey DHartley - D Hartley...
I write a rinky-dink newsletter. If you'll send me a press release about your notary web services, I will gladly include it for you. IMHO you are a smart person who not petty, and who genuinely understands how to politely use this forum and not abuse it.
If you would like to give me a press release on your product/service that will *benefit* notaries I will consider it. Check the last link in my profile to find the submission of articles page. That's an offer to others, as well.
PS - if you have something to offer to notaries, go straight to Harry and ask him if it is okay to place an ad here. In the meantime, use your profile to get your message out. Refer to it in your post. Include your PROFILE LINK and you'll be in business.

Hey Brenda, Thanks so much! I would love to send you a press release on my services that are *beneficial* to notaries. I will send it to the link on your website. Great marketing advice too! Thanks!

In the past Victoria Ring has also said she will do the same with her newsletter. I would post her website but now she's in competition with NR. You can find it, I feel sure.
