My workhorses have been the Brother 5150D and the 5250DN. They have been very reliable.

5150DNT VS. 5250DNT

I checked both and the 5250 prints at 30-35 ppm while the 5150 prints at 20 ppm and is better for graphics. Also, the 5250 appears to be less expensive. Would it be safe to assume that the 5250 is the one to get as we notaries put a premium on printing speed and don't deal in graphics, just text?

I like the Brother Multi Function 8640

You have a fax, printer and copier for approx $399-$499 and its PCL 6 complaint. It prints at 30 pages per minute. I recommend it at all the classes I teach.

I use to only recommend Hewlett Packard printers but I think this brother muti function machine far surpasses any HP multi function out there for a comparable price.
