Do not be fooled by the many TV ads capitalizing on the federal government's free credit report program. Here is the official Federal Trade Commission's fact page on the free credit report program: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/freereports.htm
There is only one official site and FREE site to get your 3 (all agencies) free credit reports: http://www.annualcreditreport.com , you can do it online and get them free once a year.
We found this valuable information when trying to clear up erroneous accounts tacked on to my wife's credit report. You can even challenege the reports online.
We wanted to share this information so you don't fall for the bogus freecreditreport.coms that are out there.
