did I mess up...

by updating abobe reader to 7? Is it a coincidence that it's taking FOREVER to spool and print? I don't have time for this today!

Charm,
I think it is the Adobe 7. When I updated to 7 it really screwed everything up, so I deleted it and went back to 6 and everything works fine now!

I agree

I also had a problem with 7 before.

Charm,

the update really messes everything up! You need to uninstall adobe completely. Then you can reload 6, or load 7 from scratch.

There is no problem with 7, but you can't update 6 to 7 for some reason.

Jersey Boy's right.

I believe there are posts about this.. PAW probably had something GOOD to say. I do know that you have to completely uninstall Adobe 6 or whatever you had BEFORE you install 7 or very bad things happen. I did it that way and had no problems. I feel your pain...not a good time to have to be messing with this stuff.

Re: Adobe ver. 7

Thanks for the question, and the info about loading 7 straight up. I had also upgraded & had problems, but have v.7 at work without incident. I will try complete uninstall of 6 (which I went back to) and reinstall 7 from scratch -- I miss being able to collate, doesn't seem to be available with my copy of v.6.

Charm I had the same problems you and Bonnie had.

I ended up removing 7 and re-installing 6.

If you simply "upgraded" from version 5 or 6 to version 7, then yes, you probably did. In order to upgrade to Reader version 7.0.8 (which is the latest, I believe), you need to **completely uninstall all previous versions**. Then reboot your system to remove any TSR's (terminate and stay resident) DLLs (device link libraries) and other program stubs that do not get replaced during the installation. After installing a fresh, clean version of Reader 7.0.8, reboot the system again.

Note: Versions prior to 7.0.7 had some serious performance problems, especially when printing image files or other very large document files.

Also, Reader 7 works best with PCL 5e (not PCL 6) and in 'image' mode for PDF files comprised of images.

I love Adobe 7 Professional

It's a great program! Haven't had any troubles with it. Once you install 7, there are a couple patches that need to be downloaded too.
