Just introducing

I'm a newbie here and just wanted to say 'hey.' Been reading tons of messages on the forum and checking out this web site. Went to chat live but found myself the only person in five chatrooms -- guess it's not a popular feature. lol

Re: What did you learn from reading the forum?

Too much to recall, but enough to question having gone through the NNA SA course, wonder whether or not I'll receive payment for the services I've already performed, realize it's par for the course to get documents in your inbox just before the scheduled appointment, know that I wasn't the only a one to get short-changed in this career field, and realize that I have a heck of a lot to learn . . . more reading, surfing, studying, marketing, and money spending are on my horizon!

Thanks! I've never done these message boards before so it's all a learning process. Appreciate the warm welcomes. Until signing on here I've only been listed with the NNA. Apparently this site is pretty popular so I'm hoping being listed here will drum up a little more business. Anyone want to give me the skinny on whether or not I should pay to upgrade my membership here?

You should absolutely be a premium member if you hope

to get business. The NNA site basically results in the really low paying SS. Notary Rotary is where I get most of my business. When I started a few years back I joined up with everyone who had a directory and Not Rot was the one I got the greatest share of business from so I dropped the others. Check the find a notary tab and see how much competition you have. As a basic member you are way down on the list as a Premier member you are positioned much higher. I hire people and I usually don't look much further than the first couple of names on a list. Good luck!

Thanks. I figured as much but wanted to check before cracking open the rapidly waning wallet again!

Search your zip code and you will find NO premier members

Since that is the case, it would definitely be worth it to be a premier member...you would be at the top of the heap.

Welcome to the industry. Be careful what companies you sign up with. Look at how many closers they have in your area that will tell you how new they are. There's a lot of money being wasted out there signing up with closing agent websites. Good luck

Since you read first . . .

Here are some tips:

1. Sign on the X (SOX), United Notaries, and Signtaures Plus have a real problem with paying. I won't work for them unless I am in the mood for freebies. But they need the influx of green newbies to stay in business.

2. Always make sure you have extra reams of paper and ink on hand so you don't run out during a rush email job after hours.

3. Engineers, Elementary School Teachers and English as a second language people are the BIG readers. They need at least 2 hours to get through a loan. When ever I try to hurry them, they just dig in their heels and take longer.

4. Try to get processors or loan offiers or SOMEONE's phone number when you go out to a job, becuase even though you are just there to witness signatures, they will ask you a bunch of questions.

COLD CRUEL WORLD - The Warren Bros.

A high school girl in Southern California
Loses her life working in a fast food restaurant
And all the store lost was a hundred dollars
Sha la la la la la

While a six-year-old in Cleveland
ides his bike without training wheels, sis two front teeth missing
Smiles all the way to show his mother at the soccer field
Sha la la la la la

Under the very same sky
At the very same time
Somebody's laughing
Somebody's crying
Somebody's living
And somebody's dying
I'm just a guy who's in love with a girl
It's a beautiful day
In the cold cruel world

A young mother in Dallas, Texas who doesn't have long to live
Makes a video for each of her children's 16th birthday
It's the present that she'll give
Sha la la la la la

While a couple in Davidson County after a bitter separation
Reconcile and renew their vows in front of the church's congregation
Sha la la la la la

Under the very same sky
At the very same time
Well somebody's laughing
Somebody's crying
Somebody's living
And somebody's dying
I'm just a guy who's in love with a girl
It's a beautiful day

Tomorrow Wall Street's gonna rise or it will fall
The earth will keep on spinning 'round like some big old crystal ball
And we keep pretending like we really understand
While the children's choir keeps singing
"He's got the whole world in His hands"

Under the very same sky
At the very same time
Well somebody's laughing
Somebody's crying
Somebody's living
And somebody's dying
I'm just a guy who's in love with a girl
It's a beautiful day
In the cold cruel world
Yeah, yeah, yeah
It's a beautiful day
Yeah, yeah
It's a beautiful day
Yeah, yeah, yeah
It's a beuatiful day
In the cold cruel world
It's a beautiful day

Ain't it amazing?

There are weekly messages on this board telling us how horrible we are to new people, yet as far as I can tell everyone has been as nice as can be to Elaine. I wonder what it was that made everyone act so differently in this situation? Did we all get laid last night? I guess it's a mystery that'll never ever be solved.
