NC Notary
<Copied from a different forum. Hope the NC Notary hit a home run>
Last week, I got a call from a TC about a signing just a little out of my area. I countered their offer with my regular fee, which they accepted. THey called back that evening with the news that it had been re-scheduled for "next week". That was OK with me. I hadn't been able to contact the borrowers anyway. Their 8-12 year old was the voice on the answering machine, who gave me what I assumed was a cell phone number. They didn't answer that either, nor return a message. It happened to be a NC number for a closing on a property in VA. This evening, at about 6, I got a call from the TC telling me that the package had been sent to me for a 6 PM closing! I thanked them for telling me, and voiced my concern over the location of the borrowers and the time of their call. They told me to call them back if I had a problem; they would be in the office for a short time, before going home to their drinks and dinner, while I took care of their 'light work'. So, since I have been pretty light on work for the last 5 months, I sucked it up, and called the borrower, in NC. When I told him what was happening, he suggested he'd 'beam himself up to the starship, and be there in no time.' After we figured out the logistics, I told him I would report back to the TC that it wasn't gonna happen tonight with me, but they may be able to find someone in NC. Called the TC, who wasn't happy, cause I had just interrupted her romantic drinks and dinner, but she, trooper that she is, said she would do something, even if it was wrong. I do hope that the NC notary really got some mileage out of this one!
