NY attorneys

Unfortunately I have been spending quite a bit of time collecting old money. An attorney I did work for in NY has closed up/split his firm and I cannot reach anyone nor have my calls, e-mails and faxes been acknowledged. Does anyone know the governing body for lawyers in NY?

The NY Bar

But they won't handle payment issues.

Ohio has a Disciplinary Counsel for attorneys that is overseen by the Ohio Supreme Court. Perhaps New York has something similar? Not sure if they would deal with this issue, but it might be worth a shot.

It depends on where he's located

The Office of Court Administration has jurisdiction, but there are grievance committees in different areas around the state. Check this web site for the committee you should contact - you'll have to know what county he's in).
