Notary Journal

Do your notary jounal entries have to be in order by date? Can you skip spots in order to keep a loan signing on one page?

The entries have to be sequential. If you skip (leave blank) entries on one day, you cannot go back the next day and fill them in, you have to leave them blank. Please refer to you CA handbook, page 9.

Journal entries should always be in date order.

Of course I am not in CA, but I am pretty sure it is the same there.

FRNotary asked "Can you skip spots in order to keep a loan signing on one page?"

I've never seen an answer to this question, but at my former employeer, I had to keep technical notebooks, which also had to be in date order, and had to be signed and witnessed. In those, if we wanted to skip to the top of the next page (perhaps because a drawing wouldn't fit in the space that was left) we had to cross out the blank area.
