He should be grateful he is not in foreclosure.

I signed someone last week: seller's docs. They had an adustable with a 3 year PPP. Their loan officer PROMISED that in 3 years, they could refinance at a better rate. Back then they had $25K equity, but the value of their house went down, and now they have no equity, so they don't quailify for anything. They were GRATEFUL that they found a buyer for their house, instead of forclosing, and they are going to move into an apartment.

Must have been a slow nesday in Fl.

The author is really reaching. Nowhere does he give concrete figures. The guy is a contractor and admits that he drew the house plans, no contractor, no architect. If he "dropped about $750,000" on the house the value is probably more like $130,000. We don't know when he built it but according to the article the values rose over 50% in 5 years and are now dropping at 19% per year how long iwll they drop, a year. This happens in the housing market the money this guy is losing he never had its all on paper and he is still substantially ahead of the game. Please, spare me the crocodile tears!

"Please, spare me the crocodile tears!"

I couldn't agree more. Just reinforces the idea that your house should be a home - a place to live - not to be confused with an investment. I think it's at least partly this kind of greedy thinking that got us into this mess to begin with.

There are prob. many turtles living there already -

gopher, snapping and a few others I haven't thought of off the top of my head. The gophers are protected; I spend a lot of time taking them off the roads during mating season so that they can proliferate at will.
