Officiated another wedding on Saturday.
I officiated my third marriage ceremony (not in the capicity of a notary) on Saturday night.
It's so much fun, and I get paid for it.... what could be better...

Do you get to stay for the reception and eat all that good food and wedding cake?

did you explain to them that on that day, their wedding day, when everyone is dressed up and the band is playing and there is love in the air, happiness galore, did you explain to them that their wedding day will be the best it will ever get, and that it will all be downhill from there

A couple told us that on our engagement, and we laughed it off, but after a while we decided they were right, lol

Well, in February it will be 35 years for me. My parents were married over 60 years, my sister has been married 40 years and lots of my friends have long marriages.

No secret - my husband is my very best friend. We are"soul mates"
I met him one day and we just knew we were meant for each other, we moved in together the very next day (to my parents horror) , he called his parents and told them he was going to get married. We have been together ever since. Only been separated when he had a "remote" tour in the military and when one or other of us has been in hospital.

Re: That is so sweet Sylvia..
I'm only 31 years old and have been married for ten years. My husband is also my best friend. A lot of people don't believe in love at first sight, but I do. When I was a senior in high school, I took a part time job at Long John Silvers, and on my first day, in walked Billy up to the counter to put in his application for employment. I had that butterfly feeling in my stomach the moment I say him. Needless to say, 2 years of dating, ten years of marriage and two mean little boys later, it still gets better with every year. (Funny thing is his name is Billy and I'm Chrystal), how funny is that!!

Re: That is so sweet Sylvia..
I definitely believe in love at first sight! I think if we had been able to we would have got married the day we met. Of course, there were those (even in my own family) who said "marry in haste, repent at leisure" and that it wouldn't last. They were dead wrong!

Yup, our family
said it wouldn't last 6 weeks!

Unfortunately he is not a member of Notary Rotary so cannot post. And if he posted under my account you would have no way of knowing if it was he or I that posted.

Re: He sure did..
I worked there the rest of the summer and then went away to college. He attended community college. He got his humble beginnings at the good ol' Long John Silvers. He is now an area director for a major chain (not Long Johns) and is doing quite well for himself. His promotion and salary increase is what allowed me to quit my job as a paralegal at a law firm and begin doing loan closing.

When I met my husband
I was living in CT and within 10 days I wrote my mother and told her that I'd met a man named Richard and I was sure she would be hearing a lot more of that name. 6 months later we were married. Out of the 37 years we were married we spent 27 of them working together, 24/7 was our together schedule. He was my best friend and unto the day he died, he could make a smile come on my face just by walking into the room.

I had 37 years
before he upped and died on me or it would have been 45 years this summer. Like most everything in life, what you get out of it greatly depends on how much you put into it.

These are inspiring stories and I welcome hearing them. I've been with my husband since I was 15, married for 6, but been together for 12. My hope is that God will bless us as He has them. Really, if you don't like it, then move on to some other thread.

Cassie I remember telling my husband once that I would love to have children - in fact, as my husband often reminds me, after the birth of our son, while I was still in the delivery room I asked him when we were going to have the next one! I stopped after three.
