Querry- Sight Impaired Signer?

Have not come across this situation per se', but was wondering if some one here might have, and how did you handle it?

Realizing what Florida Rules require etc., but has anyone actually read say a 100 page or so Refinance Mortgage Package, and re-read paragraphs not completely understood by signer?

Would the T/C be required to give the NSA a heads up, (providing they knew themselves, of course) of a given situation such as this?

NO. How else does this person work with other contracts?

I would ask this person if they have a trusted friend/releative that can be there when you meet to hit the highlights.

Re: NO. How else does this person work with other contracts?

That's not how FL works...page 36 of the manual and F.S. Sec. 117.05(14)(a)...

"The law requires you to read the document to the document signer before the notarization".

Ask title how they want you to handle it, and maybe fax them a copy of the pertinent FL regulation for this type of situation...I'd also think you'd be entitled to an additional fee for the extended service you need to provide....JMHO

That's easy then.

the 5 or 6 notarizations you read to him/her. The rest you use the trusted friend to hit the highlights.

Re: That's easy then.

That as Linda-Fl quoted is not what is required in Florida.

Wonder if such an individual could provide a temporary POA, just for that signing?

"Can such a person, give a POA, only for a certain time frame, for a specific need, say signing a Refi Mtg. for that one purpose only?"

Re: Yes..he can give a limited POA limiting the powers of

the AIF to the transaction at hand - but it would have to be accepted and approved by lender prior to signing and the original would probably have to be recorded with the security instrument. That's probably the quickest and cheapest way out for all concerned.

But you would have to read the entire DOT or Mortgage to the

blind person... 14 -16 pages at least, just for that one doc.

Re: P.S. and that why you'd need to know ahead of time

so you could price accordingly. MHO
