Re: Notary Seal

What do you do when you apply your seal and didn't press hard enough for the entire seal to show up?

I also attach an acknowledgement, just in case.

I restamp, and attach extra acknowledgement, because if they reject the double stamped one, that's what they seem to want next.

Re: Notary Seal

Make sure you void it. I line thru it initial and date it. Then just restamp.

Re: Notary Seal

If the entire seal didn't show up, place the clear complete seal on the document and move on.

Unless your rules call for adding an ack or striking through it, don't do anything differently to cure it.

An extra ack is not ever a good idea in my world as it offers an extra ack to be attached to another document of the same title. Striking through the poorly made stamp might be a California thing, but it's not in my rules and may not be in yours. In this instance, "Less is more."

Agree w/Brenda (at least in Mass)

Acc to SOS no need to strike through old. And why would you ever attach a loose ack, you have still notarized properly. They cannot tell you they do not want it because there are 2 stamps unless both stamps are not done properly. JMHO

I agree it is a bad idea to attach an extra ack 'just in case it is needed-' if there isn't enough room for another clear stamp, line through the bad impression and only then attach a loose certificate. It has been my experience that some SAs want an "extra ack" just in case- bad idea and asking for trouble. jmo

Okay, thanks for the info. :)

No need to read the riot act here in case you are thinking about it. I get the message. But I do list on the ack which document it is for.

But they cannot be photocopied.... Learned that the hard way when I was told I did not stamp & got to the bank & discovered a photocopy... they had lost the original.
