I got a call yesterday from an individual who needed a probate document notarized. She had taken it to her bank and they refused to notarize it because it contained the wording, "I, Jane Doe, being of sound mind and body, hereby waive my right to appear before blah blah blah,..."
The bank notary said she couldn't notarize it because, not being a licensed psychiatrist or physician, she is not qualified to determine if the signer is of sound mind and body.
Now I have heard everything.
Yes, I did the notarization.
