FYI - Update on Foreclosures
Link to informative article about the foreclosure crisis: http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080619/mortgage_fraud.html
I had a call from a construction company that screamed 'red flag' ("Mortgage foreclosure rescue scams, which promise to help struggling homeowners stave off foreclosure and keep their homes, also have become a major problem". I notified the National Notary Association.
Now with the loss of property in our area, I think it wise for us to be extra cautious. The local papers have already featured articles warning homeowners of unscrupulous offers of 'help'.

"I notified the National Notary Association"
What do you expect them to do about it?

Training class from XYZ affiliate ...
They already have on-line training classes through (I think) AMC and Gary Drury. His marketing materials include that he is an affiliate of XYZ. I think the training is on being a foreclosure mediator specialist and bankruptcy assistance.
I haven't taken them and don't know anyone who has, so I can't speak to how profitable this area of the non-law is. I know of attorneys in CT who act as "mediators" among servicing companies, owner of the Note, and borrowers (and sometimes with the Court), but not of any non-attorney paralegal "specialists" doing this.

Seems like some people have developed a misguided perception of the NNA's worth.
