Thanks - I have an HP 1010 - not currently in use
I keep it as a emergency fax since it has always been very quick and easy to re-set up as a freestanding unit if my all-in-one goes down for any reason. I bought it new and used it for about a year, but it didn't see hard use during that time, so it's still in very good condition. I'm trying to find where on the site it states how much you will get for turning it in - the instructions just say "Customers who have an HP Fax 1010 or HP Fax 1010xi will receive a rebate from HP of up to $100US for US and Canadian customers..." I hate that "up to..." wording. I want to know exactly what I would get for it if I decide to part with it. I see that there have been just 3 instances of the cord overheating, with no injuries reported.

Looks like you have to buy new one to get the "rebate"
Did a bit more reading, and it seems the "rebate" is based on you sending in the old machine and buying a replacement through HP. The suggested replacement machines seem to cost the same amount of money as the "rebate". That would be OK too since you'd be getting a brand-new machine with new warranty, etc.
