OT of NSA work -- anyone doing surveys for Pinecone

Research? A friend of mine did several and they were legit, but I can't get past one of the steps required to get started. Need to know if anyone else has encountered the same problem and could help trouble shoot it w/me. No big bucks to be made -- $2.00 per survey and each takes about 10-15 minutes. But at this point in time every penny counts! TIA

If you've been reduced to working for $2 a pop

that means it's time to get a regular job

Re: Doesn't Sound Desperate

If she can do 10 per hour that would be 22.00 per hour.

10 -per hour will be $20 per hour but with out the gas, printing, paper cost.

No gas -- you do these online from home! No cost for paper

or anything just time!

That may be nice but she stated that they take between 10-15 mins each. So that would be $8-$12 an hour

Thank you Derrick. Running from one location to another for $2.00 is just plain stupid.

Re: It's not running around

It's something she can do at home. Even if she were only to make $8.00 per hour at least it's an honest buck and no driving required.

Re: It's not running around

Which is exactly my point. If your financial situation is so bad that that $8 an hour doing surveys is going to make a difference, then you really need to ditch the signing biz and be looking for a full time job instead.

Re: Perhaps.....

but maybe she is just wishing to supplement her income until things pick up for her. I don't know her personal situation. I am only saying that as long as it's an honest living and she is willing then it's not desperate she's just doing what has to be done.

I got it now. Online surveys. Sit in front of your computer and complete surveys at $2.00 ea. Sounds like a lot of fun. LOL

Re: One of my very best friends

who is disabled works for a company doing online surveys from home. She chose to do this to earn a living (small but honest) and to not have to depend on collecting Social Security Disability although she qualifies for it. Fun? No. Admirable? Yes.

Very admirable! Oh, and BTW, I have teenagers who don't

need to be left to their own devices over the summer break and if I go to work at a regular job they would be w/o anyone here. Just FYI

My DH has been with Pinecone for several years

First - You absolutely are not to talk about the surveys you may do for them. They don't like their surveyors to even mention you know them.
Second - you are darn lucky to get in with them as they are VERY selective and do not accept just anybody. The few times I've known people to be able to apply and hopefully get accepted were when they saw a banner ad on a website asking for applicants...and those banner ads are RARE. You can't just contact them and ask to be one of their surveyors.
Third - you will definitely NOT make much money doing these. My DH used to get a survey 5 or 6 times a month, but now gets maybe 1 or 2 a month. You may get a survey and then be selected to receive a product by mail to try and report on. You are absolutely sworn to secrecy about any product you may see on the site or sample the actual product.
Remember these are based on demographics, and of course they have to have advertisers or companies with money to pay them to run the survey, so with the market downturn they may have fewer surveys to offer these days.
Anyway, my DH has enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to be part of their survey team for several years now, and they are one of the best and most respected companies in the field.
Hope this info is helpful.

Yep!! Been beating the pavement looking for a "regular job"

. . . and doing menial manual labor jobs whenever I can find them and whatever I have to do to put food on the table for my children and pay bills so they have a house w/electricity, water, clothing, ect. while their deadbeat dad dopes it up as a free renter in a government apartment w/a disabled lady and his free renter brother (also a deadbeat dad)!!! If I sound a little PO'd it's only because I am!!!!! I'm working my frickin' butt off w/ no help and don't need to hear a single word from anyone out there about my being desperate because I would know better than anyone else the state of my financial affairs!!!! I hold my head up high in spite of my situation because I'm one tough old bird (to quote those who truly know me). I don't give up and would flip burgers or clean stables or anything else necessary to care for my kids in spite of the fact that I have a college education. This area is just not hiring!

Also, if anyone out there has any other suggestions for work

I'm wide open. I just took a job last week working 2 days/week waiting tables. I literally begged for that job and had to consent to working under the table at a ridiculous rate of $10/day plus tips. First day I only made $10 in tips in 7 hours so only $20 for the day. Second day I made $27 in tips plus $10 for day so $37 for 7 hours! No one is dining inside the restaurant at this time of year except a few old folks who probably don't even know the amount to tip according to modern day etiquette (sp?). Everyone else hangs out at a tiki bar on the lake where the bartender earns a fortune! But still it is a job and has already opened up a new door to me as I'm negotiating w/the owner about starting my own bakery using his kitchen during the night and early morning hours. God works in mysterious ways!

One last FYI before I check out for now

Just to put everyones' minds at ease who may be worrying that I'd accept lowballer fees for signings, I'm won't! Desperate does not equal stupid! I won't do anything that costs me more than I earn. I'm aware of the overhead costs involved in closings. I also know that SAs offer a professional service and should be paid accordingly. To undersell myself in this industry would hurt not only me but all my fellow notaries.

Eileen, sounds like a great way to make a little money, in between signings and other money making jobs you have. I dont get why anyone would read your post, and them tell you your "stupid"
whats up people?
Im glad Brenda directed this all back, make the internet cost pay for itself at least.
