right click. highlight "delete", press enter.

Set your views so that you don't get a preview for best safety and/or do like Art said.

Here is an address for an "excellent" program to screen your emails and it's Free. Go to www.mailwasher.net. I have been running version 2.0 for years. They now have version 6.1 which I just downloaded but have not set up yet.
