Signings go in spurts in different areas of the country
The way it was explained to me some years ago is that lenders move around the country in targeting specific areas for intensive marketing. One month may be the New England states, the next month may be 3 or 4 states in the Southeast, the following month may be some of the Midwest states, etc. Then all of the loans from a target area enter the processing pipeline, most eventually ending up 6 weeks to a month later in an assignment call to a notary. So you may be very busy in your area for a month or two since your area was part of a marketing target a couple of months ago. Then assignments will slow down until your area is again targeted for intensive marketing.

Re: Signings go in spurts in different areas of the country
If you only work for a handful of companies, this is probably true. BUT, if you have a large customer base, 'someone' will always be targeting your area. There are thousands and thousands of lenders - not all target specific areas at the exact same time.
