North Carolina and Foreclosure scams

I was doing a title search yesterday, and came across a flyer in the Clerk of Court's office that I found interesting. One of the bullet points stated that it is illegal to charge upfront fees for foreclosure assistance and gave a toll free number to report fraud to the NC Attorney General's office. It also gave a toll free number, and a website - www.FightNCForeclosure.org - for information on getting help if you are facing foreclosure. I spent some time browsing the site, and found that it has a lot of good information, mostly geared toward the consumer/homeowner, so it's written in plain English. I thought I would pass on the information for other NC notaries - it's good info to have in your toolbox.
