Brother fax machines and Voice Over Internet
I got this in my email this morning. It might be of interest to anyone who has a Brother fax machine and is using Voice Over Internet.
-----------------------------------------------
Brother International Corporation's Customer Service Division has had several inquires regarding the use of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and problems with sending or receiving faxes are occurring. We would like to share with you a possible solution to this issue.*
Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is not a marketed feature of your Brother machine; however there is a Compatibility setting available with this machine that may assist with sending and receiving faxes when using VoIP. Adjusting this setting lowers the bps rate (modem speed) and turns Error Correction Mode (ECM) off. To adjust the Compatibility setting follow the steps listed below:
1. Press Menu or Menu/Set key. 2. Select Fax, Miscellaneous, and Compatibility. 3. Press the up or down arrow key to select Basic. Note: Basic reduces the maximum modem speed to 9600 bps.
3. Press OK or Menu/Set or Set key. 4. Press the Stop/Exit key.
Note: Although VoIP is not a marketed feature of this machine, Brother will continue to monitor customer requests for possible future products.
