Portable/Mobile Copiers and/or scanners?

What brand/model do you have? What do you like/dislike about yours?

HP F380 - makes nice clear color or b/w copies (inkjet)..lightweight and easy to manage - and price was nice - $79 direct from HP - I've heard some pick them up for $35-$50...

I don't like that it doesn't do legal size copies...

Canon 160

It uses toner.
I can't get legal copies either, but only paid $5 for it brand new on ebay.
Love the carrying handle.

Re: Canon 160

Quite a few years ago when we purchased our home, we had a SA come to us and he used a small about the size of a camer hand held device to copy or scan our DLs. It was nice..I don't know what he used..I sure would like one now..

I have two...

The first one is an inkjet, a Cannon BJC80 that I've had for, oh... 10 years now? (yikes!) It's the most portable printer around, and it handles legal paper. It's a good little color printer, but because it's so small, so are the ink cartridges. It doesn't hold much paper at any one time, either. BUT... it's meant to be portable, so you get what you can take. 10 years ago the print quality was top notch. Now? It's just okay compared to other printers out there... but in a real pinch, it's good to have this around though I don't really use it much anymore. The Pixma iP90/iP100 that are on the market now are about the same size (and has much better print quality!). Technically, they're photo printers... but that's what's available that's comparable.

For laser portability I have a Brother HL-2170w. I have not installed it in a vehicle, but I have used it sitting on the back seat with an inverter for non-notary stuff. It's actually new to me so I can't say a lot about it yet except that I really, really like it. At some point in the nearish future, it's going to be installed in a mobile office setup that we're still designing.

Here's a video for it: http://syndicate.sellpoint.net/Syndicate/SynMaster?Tentoe=N6BTW1-57507

For scanning/copying... I use a portable scanner from the Neat Company.

Tell us more about the mobile office setup you are designing. What size inverter (pure sine) ?

I ordered a Pandigital PANSCN01 PhotoLink Mini Scanner

that can scan directly to a media card, and it weighs only 1/2 a pound. A DL will go through it, I checked. So I decided to go with this.

I've got the inverter, pure sine in the car. I no longer use the mobile office, as printers don't last in the summer heat, and over all the speed bumps and windy country roads. I'm just sick of BO's never having the copies they need because the LO and TC forget to tell them, and only notify me of this requirement 10 minutes before the closing.

Re: I ordered a Pandigital PANSCN01 PhotoLink Mini Scanner

Thanks for that comment Lisa. I was actually thinking of doing a mobile office. If the printers don't last in NC heat, they'd probably really get fried here in AZ!

Lisa - did you see it only take images 4X6??

If you need letter size copies (bank statements, homeowners' insurance, etc) it won't accept them...at least not from what I read...and does it do color? I didn't see that and many of my TC's who want a copy of the DL have requested it in color...

Good luck with it - hope you like it...

It is a scanner, not a copier.

It does color as it is a photo scanner. I'm not there to make copies of insurance or check stubs, it is up to the borrower to get that to the lender prior to my arrival. I'm having an issue with lenders and TC's, not even mentioning to the borrower that copies of ID's are needed. I also find that many borrowers don't listen to my entire phone message when I tell them that they are to provide copies and their spouses must be present to sign. In fact, there is one lender that consistently provides me with wrong phone numbers for the BO's so I know I could be leaving a message for just about anyone. Very few of the TC's I work for require copies of photo id, but some do. This scanner is great, even though it does color, I will be printing copies in black and white, as our NC Statutes state that it is illegal to make a color copy of a NC Drivers License.
