AVG or AVG Free....Is it worth paying for extra features?
I have had AVG Free for the past couple of years and have been happy with it but they were saying their new paid version will scan every web page before you open it. I believe it is $54.99 for the year.
My concern is if that extra feature will make it slower when you are online opening webpages, etc. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
TIA

Neither.
AVG is pretty good but NOD32 is superior and has a smaller footprint.
Although, I am sure the free AVG will protect you just fine. Unless you are going to warez and keygen sites.

NOD32 has a 4 of 5 star rating at C-Net. Also, NOD32 is not free, and the purchase price (MSRP $39.99) is $5.00 more than the purchase price of AVG, which has a 5 of 5 star rating on C-Net. Both products (NOD32 and AVG Free) have a 4 star user rating.

Cnet is not exactly the beacon of unbiased info.
Most real enthusiasts that post at sites like anandtech.com and all my friends who work in IT prefer NOD32.

Also vouch for NOD32 ...
My IT person who works IT for auto co. and another couple hundred client's computers on the side LOVES the NOD32, says it has virtually halted all virus/malware issues. It's what I'm using and so far, so very wonderful.

Re: Also vouch for NOD32 ...
I ditched Norton two years ago for NOD32. It may be kind of costly, but I wouldn't use anything else.

I have used this on my two computers for a few years now, and I install it on my friends and relatives along with Spybot when they ask for help. Never have had an issue.
