Re: Okay..I'll bite...what's a BPO?

You don't become a BPO. BPO stands for broker price opinion, and is used in lieu of a (more expensive) appraisal. I believe that you must be a licensed real estate broker to do these.

the only thing I know of is in real estate

a broker price opinion is done to determine value... Done by a real estate broker. Of course, it is entirely possible that in Louisiana it is different... Not sure what a notary would have to do with that but maybe that is what this person is looking for...

In Ohio, the BPO is done as a courtesy and usually if the broker isn't busy. I remember requesting one from a broker/friend of mine and he never showed up. I never mentioned it.

Re: the only thing I know of is in real estate

You get paid to do a BPO, and it's more formal. What you're referring to is known as a CMA (Comparative Market Analysis) - those are always done as a courtesy, usually when an agent is trying to get a listing. They both involve the same type of data, but they're handled differently.

If it is Business Process Outsourcer

Business Process Outsourcer is usually someone out of the USA.
If you want to be this type of BPO, you must first clear your
mind of any English you have learned, & speak with an accent
that the majority of the people in the USA can't understand.

You need a real estate license to do a BPO

Banks use them to set the prices on foreclosures and short sales. You have to know your market, have access to the comps, and know how to price a house to sell quickly.

In our state of Virginia you must be licensed in real estate to do a BPO. BPO is Brokers Price Opinion.
