My husband went for a CT scan this morning - gas was $3.09/gal ... this afternoon at 1:00 it was $3.13/gal - at the same station...

Unless you talk to somebody in....
Death Valley in California, where gas is over $6/gallon. Or parts of Alaska, where you're paying upwards of $8-$10/gallon.
Shoot, I paid $3.65/gallon the other day, so it's not that outrageously different. I beleive California, New York, Illinois and Maryland have the highest prices, on average.

It's pretty good in my area. It may be of use to you.

I used gasbuddy on our cross country round trip last year and found it to be extremely accurate.

I am fortunate in that my wife works for a wholesale gas distributor. We get gas at their stations at dealer cost+ .01. This equates to about .25 a gallon savings. Our street price in Evansville is around $3.35. Just across the river in KY it is cheaper due to less taxes per gallon. My problem is my old Jeep doesn't get that good of gas mileage. I am looking at the hybrids a little closer now...

Re: I love my Prius! 46-50 mpg!
Me too! Just got back from Chicago to see the grandbaby -- Columbus to Chicago and back, plus in-between tooling around town -- 1,000 miles for $75. Closer to 40 mpg with the cold weather, but I'll take it anyway. I hit 51 mpg last summer.

Re: I love my Prius! 46-50 mpg!
Just get rid of it before the warranty runs out. My mother-in-law has a 2005 off warranty and costing her tons of money right now. And the dealer won't offer much in trade.

Re: I love my Prius! 46-50 mpg!
That is exactly what I plan on doing. Around 85K. I had to get new battery at 47K (under warranty) but it scares me that I will need another just over 100K and will have to pay.
If I knew then what I know now about bringing them through production, I would have gone a different way. But, I do like it overall. Just won't get another.

Now see, I'm feeling extra good about my little
11 year old 5 speed Saturn, 37 mpg around town and 44 mpg on the highway and it's got 180k miles, holding steady and paid for!

No car payments always make the car prettier, Sue!
I haven't had a car payment since 1997 when I paid off my '93 Mazda.
It makes my life easier by a long shot.
Cars that are taken care of during easily last over 250K these days. I read an article not long ago about people who kept their cars up into the 400K-500K by taking excellent care of them.

I've got an 11 yr old Saturn too
I've got a 5 speed Saturn too - with 230,000 miles on it (it's 11 years old too, I've had it 8). Yikes! I need a new car SOON but it has been running much longer than ever expected. Gas mileage is not as good as you quote, but still about 32 mpg around city. Trying to decide what to replace it with....

Predictions are for $5/gal. before the year is out. I'm
glad I bought a hybrid (34+ mpg for an suv). Gas prices are usually lower here than most places.

Been getting a fuel surcharge for a few weeks now.
I have been asking extra for a few weeks now as prices have risen 50 cents a gallon in my area. More than half the calls I have gotten have been approving it. The others, I only accept if it's less than 5 miles. Last week 3 of the companies that turned me down called back and agreed to the bump.
