Copy of my background check
I am being asked for a copy of my background check (done in 2009) and I wasn't given a copy. Anyone know how to get it in CA? I am not a member of NNA.

Ask the person or entity that requested the background check (e.g, the title company, the SOS). I wouldn't be too hopeful that they would be able to find it, though, and they may not be required to give it to you. Also, in some cases, they may have simply gotten confirmation by phone or email that the check turned up nothing sinister and they may not have received a full written report.

DeeDe, if you're talking about the BGCs that were done by CA and the FBI to obtain your commission, then you won't get a copy. The fact that they issued you a commission is proof that you passed the background check. A lot of companies have trouble understanding this when it comes to CA notaries, and they don't realize that... just by being a notary... we've already been screened.

Thanks Marian. The company requesting it is located back east in Florida I think and I tried to tell them that I don't have a copy and can't get one. I'll try explaining it again.

Is a background check really something that a SS needs on their Agents. DeeDe could you share the name of the SS in Fl. so we can watch for them to ask us also. Just thought I'd ask.
